WARNING side effects of joining our camp will include kids being tired from running, jumping and exercising in our gym, belly aches from laughing so much and being dirty from exploring crafty creations and playing outside. Stay Safe Day Camp (8-12-yrs)

November 15, 2019 – 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Real-world scenarios often call on children to respond to challenges. The¬†Stay Safe Program teaches applicable and age-appropriate skills while increasing and reinforcing a youth‚Äôs capacity to improve his or her own safety. Whether in their community or on their own, this group will be given better tools to Stay Safe!…in a variety of different situations.

Prerequisite: Must have turned 8-years of age to attend this program

Course Content:

  • Importance of responsibility and respect while being accountable for yourself
  • Importance of setting and following rules around safety when staying on your own
  • How to stay safe at home and within the community
  • How to prepare, recognize and respond to unexpected situations, (i.e. inclement weather, strangers, unanticipated visits)

First Aid Content:

  • Check, Call, Care (includes phoning EMS/911), recovery position, conscious choking (adult/child/alone), feeling unwell, asthma (includes use of inhaler and spacer), anaphylaxis (includes use of EpiPen), poisoning, insect stings, wound care (i.e. minor cuts and scrapes, splinters, nosebleeds, bumps and bruises, life-threatening bleeding, burns)

Babysitting Course (11-15-yrs)

December 6, 2019 – 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

The Babysitting course refreshed and revised, now has a greater emphasis on First Aid skills.

The Canadian Red Cross Babysitting course covers everything from managing difficult behaviors to essential content on leadership and professional conduct as a babysitter. Babysitting promises to deepen and enhance the responsibility that older youth feel when caring for younger children. This updated curriculum, complete with new science, also provides improved learning when it comes to giving the appropriate care in the event of an emergency.

First Aid Content:

Check, Call, Care (includes phoning EMS/911), glove removal, recovery position, conscious choking (adult/child/baby/alone), CPR (baby/child), illness, asthma (includes use of inhaler and spacer), anaphylaxis (includes use of EpiPen), poisoning, insect stings, wound care (i.e. minor cuts and scrapes, splinters, nosebleeds, bumps and bruises, life-threatening bleeding, burns), head, neck and back injuries, broken bones, seizures. Reference text with embedded critical thinking activities that will reinforce content.

March Break Activity Camp (4-8-yrs)

March 16 – March 20, 2020 – 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

All Camps

Registration Requirements

Children must be either 4-years* of age OR already attend JK to attend our camps.  Our camp runs up until grade 3.

Our camps are based on an 8:1 ratio.  Our activities are group focused and require that all children are able to safely participate in the planned curriculum, including off-site park activities. Please contact us before registering if you are unsure if your child can safely participate.

Campers are required to bring

  • 2 snacks for full day ¬†(1 snack for half day campers)
  • A packed healthy lunch (No nuts/peanuts please)

Camper to staff ratio

Safety is very important to us, and we always strive to accommodate a 8:1 ratio*.

All of our camp counsellors have many years of experience working with children and training in First Aid and CPR.

Important Information

Our camps are not intended for children who require one-on-one camper to teacher support. Our activities are group activities which require that all children are able to safely participate in the planned curriculum including off-site park activities. Please contact us before registering if you are unsure if your child can safely participate.

CAMP REFUND / TRANSFER / SICKNESS POLICY

Camp Cancellations (withdrawals)

Camp withdrawal with more than 7 days notice: A full refund is eligible; minus a $50 camp withdrawal fee.

Camp withdrawal with less than 7 days notice:  No refund or credit is eligible.

Withdrawals will not be accepted when less then 7-days cancellation notice is given and the full amount is forfeited whether attending or not.  Camp days not attended or only partially attended will not be refunded, credited, nor will any makeup camp day be given. This includes missed days due to sickness or other unforeseen events.

Camp Transfers

Camp transfer with more than 7 days notice: Transfers into an eligible camp will be accepted; minus a $15 transfer fee.

Camp transfer with less than 7 days notice: Transfers into an eligible camp will be accepted; minus a $50 transfer fee.
